This is my husband's last week at work, and between the two of us we have just under 50 years in law enforcement . I've had this project on my mind for several years as a retirement gift to the PD where we worked. With the frame, it is about 20x32. The two panels are framed in the same frame, with the channels 1" apart. Thank you everyone for the input and advise at various stages of the project. Ed will take it with him to work this week and give it to the Department. And please, Ne Obliviscaris...Never Forget.. those that gave their lives on September 11th, some in the line of duty, but most by just going to work...soldiers all.

This is fantastic! They must be a great police department for you to put so much time and care into this piece... and you're retired! Great work, Tre!

It's very exacting work, and no room for error. It's a tough job, but the best job in the world. Dispatchers are the strong voice of calm in the chaos of everyday life. And police officers..can't say enough.

Tre, you are a very special person to give such a wonderful heartfelt gift. You did a beautiful job on the pieces.
I love the quote too. Thank you to you and you're hubby for you're service to you're community.
Yes dispatchers are the calming voice when things are going so wrong in our lives. I remember one walking me through what to do when my hubby had cut his leg really bad and was about to faint from loosing so much blood. She turned my panic around for me, (even though I had training in first aid stuff, when the person is a loved one, it isn't easy)

Thanks everyone. It was a challenge..had to learn some new things. The sandblasting was the scariest, and even though what I sandblasted here was more mechanical than artistic, now I have my foot in the door. I will definately do it again. It's a good way to do an intricate design that you want in the middle of a piece, or a logo.

Special thanks to Kev, Alan and Stephen Richard for advise on all the questions..
Oops! My mistake..it was Vic Rothman who suggested using two grooves in the same frame. Vic that worked out great! The spacing is about 1" apart which is just right. It gives just enough light-play between the two panels. And the frame is as sturdy as a rock! Thanks again for the recommendation.
