I know it looks suspiciously like the one Glassic posted in the alder burl post, but about the same time a friend asked me to make a trout for him...so I used a Spectrum Glass pattern and blatently copied Glassic's burl idea. Works like a champ, and the glass is very secure in the routed channel.

Looks Great Tre! Love the glass. What is the glass in the lower midsection below the fin?

Fantstic! Just goes to show how a varied Spectrum pattern gets to be!
How did you do the eye? Mine were Austrian crystals.

Looks good, and I am thinking I may have to start looking for burls or nice pieces of drift wood when I am down by the river.  That is very nice.

Very nice Tre, love the colors you chose and the clear baroque and sparkle glass, lots of movement there!  The Alder Burl base makes me also want to start combing the woods around here to see if I can find one.  I think that's a very unique and beautiful way to display wildlife, fish, or any other woodland creature would look fabulous finished off this way!

Nice job!  De

LOL, apparently I must have missed that one.  I'd say that I should be able to find plenty of that up here..but it usually gets carried off pretty quickly.  However, I'll take a dog walk at one of my favorite oceanside places one of these days and look for some more.  Driftwood can be pretty light after it drys.  I've got a few pieces here that are small enough to use as a base, but I don't think that they'd hold up a piece of glass without tipping.

Gives me some inspiration for a walk though!
Thanks JF

(Trying to go with the whole burlesque theme)

That's really a great idea! And the trout came out really nice!

The pink? That's a Uroboros glass..don't remember what...60-466?., and Glassic, I just took a piece of yellow glass and cut a little round piece.

I foiled the crystals and dropped them on the solder seam. Tries threading a bead on wire a few times on some fish but they crack real easy.

I threaded a bead for the eye on my raven piece..looked good but I should have mounted it from the back rather than the front for an eye-in-socket look.. live and learn

They had moonstone cabs, but that was before Walmart took the lead jewelry off the shelves!  Soldered real well!
