I made this for my husband for Father's Day.  The colors didn't show up very well.  I started off with the geode and tried to pull glass colors from it.  The top glass is a really light purple...bottom 1/2 of the glass is amber.  I mixed in light purple, amber, and clear glass globs.  It measures 8" round.  I've been wanting to do one of these for a couple of years now.  I saw a panel like this in one of the first sg books I got from the library...just thought it would be a really interesting piece.  It actually was a really quick panel to do...biggest thing was just soldering all those globs together!  Giggle

That is wonderful.  My husband would love a geode, too. What a cool idea.

He really liked it.  His office just moved, so he ended up getting an office with a wall of windows that has a ledge.  So, thought this would be perfect there.  It's so hard to find something kinda "manly" in stained glass.  Giggle

I love it Meaco!  Beautiful job!  I'll bet he really liked it, what's not to like?  Nice that he's got some windows in his office now to display it.

I have got a bunch of these geode slices in various sizes..and not being a very good free form thinker I've had a devil of a time trying to think up a way to use them.  This project definitely gives me some good ideas!

Thanks for posting it!  De

Thanks, Kev! :)

De...it was actually really simple to do.  I did it in an afternoon.  I drew a circle to fit the stand, put the slice down, and then placed all the globs where I wanted them.  Then I just marked where they were, grinded, and foiled.  Brought them back and soldered the globs to the slice.  In order for the glass to be cut right I just traced around the globs in the end.  It just made it a bit easier to deal with.  :)

Can't say pretty since it's for the man cave.  But I think it's fantastic

Hey, men can like pretty things, too! Why do you think he married Meaco?!
It's beautiful, Meaco! And the stand suits it perfectly!
