Those are nice Joanie, but definetly ringsaw material..I think that they'd be very cute and probably would sell well.  You wouldn't have tons of time into them either.  I think they are a great idea!

I understand what you mean about the glob candle holders probably not being cost effective.  I haven't made any yet, but I intend to.  They are so pretty and would be a great Christmas present for my sister.

You have a lot of neat pieces in the works!  I think the leaves are a good idea and will be very pretty.  I look forward to seeing them finished.

Oh! and I think your 'Mary and Baby' rescue piece is great!  Such a cool way to use the broken engraved glass.

Smiles!

Oh, thank you Mary.  I love that piece, and had put a lot of time in it, engraving it.

Well things haven't gone very good today.  Didn't get much done for sure.  Finsihed grinding everything and cut  out 5 pieces from a pattern sent to me by a Friend here and cut out 5 of these kites from the scrap, from all the stuff I cut out.

The deviding line in the middle looks wide because I buried the wire the full lenght of the kite that holds the rags and forms the loop at the top.  Oh, and with out the sun the green doesn't show well, it is hunter green and a heavenly blue

THanks Kev and Linde, the good thing about these is that you can match up just about any scrap piece to make them.  You could even decrease the size.  This one is 5"L x 3 3/4W, not counting the length of wire for the rags

Thanks Kev and Di.

Here is the last piece for today (or should I say tonight)  The candle dish is 3" square at the base and is 6 1/4" across at the top

I have cut this one out in a teal blue and in red too.

omg I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the kite! What a cute idea!  Quick to make, and just adorable!  I think that's a great idea running the wire completely up through the center line of the kite.  That should make a good sturdy way to hang it.  I wouldn't be surprised if you sold many of those!

Like the candle dish very much also!  Joan you are on a roll!  Can't wait to see what else you come up with!

the kite comes from Warner's free patterns.  If you want to do one with the wire like I did, (going through the entire piece), let me suggest some hints.

form the wire according to the tale and bring it all the way up the middle, make a loop for hanging.  Make sure it lays really flat, pin it down above and below the soldering points.  put the 2 left pieces in place, using the layout pins and solder them in place, being careful not to allow the solder to flow over past the wire,  then snug the other two pieces in place, pin them and solder them too.

As for the rags, be sure to create a good flow of solder front and back to insure that they are stronge enough.  You can do it in such a way that the solder looks like knots holding the rags in place.

here is the quilted star.  I am doing some of these one at a time to see what kind of time is involved to determine which ones I will repeat. Authors one took just over an hour, beginning to end, not including the cleaning and polishing process. Authors was done with mostly scrap too.  Forgot to add that the star portion is royal blue

Joan, I love the candle dish. I wasn't sure what it was going to look like when I saw your glass cut out and now that it is assembled it looks pretty cool. I really like the shape of it.
