I'm thinking of the force placed on the edge of the glass itself by applying it via the inside channel. Placing it around the outside channel allows you to spot solder it in the channel..and if you like you can close the leaves over it and solder along the seam thereby encasing the wire in it's own closed channel.

LoL...I just added to my last post...

It also could mean that the wire, as the diagram says, sits in the outer channel, and the ends of the wire are soldered at 10 o'clock & 2:00 o'clock and the outer leaves of the H-came are left alone...as is.

Ahhhh!!!! There's loops soldered into the H-Came for the wire to pass through!

The ones I have seen done had H came with the wire on the outside.  I have seen the leaves folded over and left unfolded.  I've never seen the leaves soldered on the outside.

Those loops would be inserted at 10:00 & 2:00 and the loops only would be soldered in. THEN the wire gets threaded though those loops.

That would make sense. Folding or leaving the leaves open, but not soldered closed. Thanks Rebecca.

I'll try that the next time.

Took me a bit but I finally have it figured out.
Supporting wire on the outside of the H-came, and is threaded through those 2 loops that are soldered in place on the inside of the came (on top of the heart).
I think I like this method better than the C-came idea I used.

I love the concept. It seems easy enough to do and much more secure. Wish I knew this when I did my circular or even oval pieces. Now to file it in my memory banks (which seem to not retain memory any more) for the next time.

Yep, agree w/you Rebecca, this is what I've seen as well, no soldering on the outside, usually folded together leaves on the H came.
