As you can see..this is a pretty big pattern and I simplified it to make it easier to complete with lead, since I do not have a lot of experience with lead yet. All the pieces are a good size and should be easy to cut and work up. I'll hopefully start this in the next few days.

I was thinking about it more, and I think I will reduce it down to an 18" diameter as the 24" is huge! As far as colors go..I will try and stay close to what it there, but I am determined to use whatever I have on hand, and I know I don't have some of those specific types of glass, but have others that may be similar, of maybe even nicer.

I just printed out the pattern for 18"..and to me it's the perfect size!

How 'bout here:)

I didn't use the H came for that plated medallion, but it sounds like a good plan. I just used a large C came.

Did you then fold the outer leaves inward over the wire?

See how narrow the outside edge is in this pic?
I just used a larger profile C came, but if I were to do this again, I think I'd like to give it a try with the H came as well.

So are you then suggesting to use the H came, run the wire in the channel on the outside, spot solder it in place and then close the leaves and run a bead of solder along the seam?

I really like sling for round and oval panel.  Makes a lot of sense and seems that it would give much more strength to the outer part of the panel.

Wish I had seen this when I did a round panel I got from a book, of grapes and leaf with only 4 connecting points which were in the middle of the panel.  Being really new to glass when I did that panel, it never entered my mind that it was going to be difficult to hang without putting it in a wooden frame.  Made if difficult to add hangers to it.  I forget what I ended up doing, but I do remember that I didn't much like the way it hung, and worried about it lasting.

I has lasted according to the woman who bought it.  She loves it.  I gave her a huge discount because of the hanging problem.

I haven't tried the H came yet for that typle of panel. I got this idea from Tony Banfield at W/C.
http://www.warner-criv.com/picturealbums/public_photos.aspx?aid=758
I asked him and gave him credit for this tutorial in that other website.

The way this pic looks to me is that it looks like there's 2 layers of came...yes/no?
I wanted a clean look so I changed it for a larger C came.

Looks like one H came surrounding the circumference with a wire along the outside of the channel and passed through the hanging rings. I think it's probably optional whether or not to close the leaves after the wire is threaded around.

If you were to use a wide profile H came, and have the wire against the glass edge, with 2 small slits at 10:00 o'clock & 2:00 o'clock, for the wire to come up through, that might work and leave the outer H came as is.

If you notice in my piece, I made loops from the ends of that encased wire, rather than all in one continuous loop. Adding a chain enable me to alter the height of the piece when I hang it in different locations.

I think my preference would be to have the wire on the outside channel rather than the inside channel so the pressure of hanging it is placed evenly along the lead came rather than the glass itself.

I foiled the outer edge of mine and then attached the C-came. I used 16 guage wire.

It also could mean that the wire, as the diagram says, sits in the outer channel, and the ends of the wire are soldered at 10 o'clock & 2:00 o'clock and the outer leaves of the H-came are left alone...as is.
