This was basically an experiment.  I had a piece of System96 orange and wanted to do a coral bowl with it but wanted to add something else to break up the orange. I searched through my stash to find the right color but knowing that the orange fires darker couldn't come up with anything I thought would work.  So I took a piece of clear and started sprinkling yellow and orange frit over it til I though I was happy!  When I took that out of the kiln I found that the frit has shrunk a bit more than I wanted but decided to go with it anyway (it was an experiment, after all!), cut it into strips and built my bowl.  For the most part I'm happy with it.  It's not my favorite piece but the frit shows better than I thought and I kind of like the way some of the lighter color "melts" into the darker orange. I think there will be more experiments to come!

Cool experiment! The end result has a bit of a "spirit glass" look to it, very interesting!
These coral bowls really are neat!

Did you slump into or over a mold?

Neat idea!

Mal, I hope it sells...I think it's going to one of the shops.

Nancy, it was draped over a stainless steel bowl...I prefer doing them that way.

Thanks, everybody!  I think I'll definitely experiment with more colors!

Oh, I am thinking of the possibilities, Kev! I have another idea in mind for the "coral".  We'll see how that goes!  Woo-hoo!  Another experiment!

Love the look to this. I have a bunch of odd color rods and was wondering if mixing and matching might bring a similar result?

Rods may be a bit hard to set up but it's certainly worth a try!  Go for it!
