I seem to be in black/white mode lately but this was a client order so I went with it!  She had seen some oriental-ish plates I had done awhile back and wanted a similar piece.  The red dragon is punched out of luster paper and crackled during firing...something I've never had happen before but I like it!  I hope she does!  Fingers Crossed

omg Becki, who wouldn't love this!  It's beautiful!  I can't really see the crackling from the picture, but I would think that it would only serve to make it look antiquey...which I would consider perfect considering the type of plate it is.

Very Nice!  De

ooohhh if only I had the money, *sigh*, I'd have pretty much one of everything you do *smiles*. I would love to have a full entertaining package for all the company filled summer days, truffle trays and soup bowls as far as the eyes can see!

I'm going to have to get out my thesaurus and find a new synonym for "gorgeous."

Scooch, I thought you were bringing the sushi for this one!

You guys really know how to make a girl feel good!  Thanks to all!  The client will see it tomorrow so let's hope she feels the same way!

Here's a couple of pics of the crackle, De.  I'll probably never get it to do this if I wanted it to but I like it on this piece!

Ahh, now I see, but you know...I'm not sure I'd like it as well if it hadn't crackled?  So if you have to do more of these, can you make this same happy mistake happen again?  Gosh I hope so.
It looks just great and I'm with Amber...I only wish I could afford to buy at least one of everything you make.  Simply gorgeous!

Yah! Love the overall look Becki. Small flowers

What is luster paper? Is that like a Dicro Slide?
I have some here and it says is to 'Fuse as usual' and that it's compatible with any COE glass. I can use either a punch or sissors to get a design.
Same thing?

Thanks, De and Nancy!  Nancy, luster paper is similar to slide but it's a mica based product.  I posted a thread about it here.

Thanks Becki. I just had a look in Ed Hoy's catalogue and only found the Mica Powder (Pixei Dust) so far in lots of different colours. Does it have the look of aventurine frit? ...like suspended sparkles or more like a slide. Interesting! I missed your previous thread 'cause I haven't read everything yet:) I'm thinking it must be more like a slide. I've only used a little Dicro Slide, so what would the difference be? Both would have a glossy appearence?

It's more like a slide but with the metallic, slightly sparkly look of mica powder...not glossy like a dichro slide.  The luster is applied with a binder to a paper backing so it can be cut or punched and is applied like a slide decal.
