This is a little test plate for a larger plate I'll be doing for a customer.  The center tree is punched from luster  paper and each corner has a tree carved into the under side so it shows through the transparent red glass.  I hope it shows in the picture!

Kev, the tree in the center is punched out of Carefree Luster Paper, a mica based luster pigment applied to a paper backing...works kind of like a slide decal.  You can cut or punch out any shape, soak in water, apply it to the glass and fire.

Thanks, Anne!  I didn't have any fiber paper so I punched the trees out of 4 layers of thinfire, laid them on the shelf and put the glass on top...making do with what I have!

Becki this is beautiful. I tried putting stars in the corner of a plate once, but I didn't have enough layers of paper for a good imprint. Your trees are perfect.

That is SO innovative.  Thanks for sharing ideas like this with us Becki! I have a bunch of punches, will have to try that!

and a lot cleaner to work with than mica powder right?  I'm trying some plates with mica powder right now - yuch, so messy!

LOL!  Glad you like it, LA, whether you understand the process or not!  wink

Anne, it is definitely less messy than mica powder but, depending on your shapes, it can get a bit frustrating sliding them onto the glass and getting them straight!
