Poured my first flashcrete stepping stone today... I have to make a second one just like this, one withe the University of Kentucky logo and one with a hummingbird but I needed to see what color it dries before I do the hummingbird...

I think I like working with concrete better...

I had hoped this would dry whiter than it is right now; hopefully they will be good enough for my friends

Looks great!  If they're not good enough, your friends are too picky!  Basketball

Thank You.

I'm concerned with the color of the concrete more than anything else... the box said it is white but it looks rather tan to me... and both schools are need a white background for the logo to be right.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens as it drys.

It is nice LouAnn.  Hope it turns out white enough, although I do agree with Tre and hope they aren't really picky and have unrealistic expectations. You can only work with what's available. You did a good job on this!

Thanks Barbara and Anne,

I know it didn't sound it but I am very happy with the quality of the stone and I'm sure they will like it, I am just my own worst critic and based on the pictures on the box, I was expecting a whiter stone. I had told them they would be white prior to even pouring a test stone and that is my own fault if they aren't happy.

Very nice!  I've never used Flachcrete or cement, so I don't know how to compare with that.  I made a few stones a few months ago and used Diamondcrete and really liked the result.

Thank you,

I was initially looking for Diamondcrete but the only I could find locally was terra cotta colored so I ended up ordering this through Dick Blick and it was a lot cheaper...

I think once I pour the other 3 I'll like it more than I do today... I don't like anything new the first time...

I think it looks just great Lou Ann,  Flashcrete is probably as close to white, and it may dry whiter than it looks right now, but it's going to be alot whiter than concrete would have looked.
I think it looks very nice.  As other people have mentioned, if the buyers are too concerned that they aren't white enough then I'd explain that this is as close as it comes due to the type of materials available..and they are being a little too picky.
But speaking from personal experience, some customers wants and what I'm able to provide color and texture wise don't always align, but as soon as they understand the nature of the product and the availability there is usually no problem.

Thanks De,

I think all the concern has been in my own head (I have issues with worrying too much sometimes) -- I brought it to work with me today and the girl this one is for loves it...

This came out really nice Lou Ann....I'm ready to see the rest now :)

I want to see something out of you too!!!

I hope to grind and pour the other 3 tomorrow

I've never done a stepping stone, but I think this one looks perfect, Lou Ann.

Lou Anne...I suspect once it dries it will be quite white, and I am sure they will think it's white as well. You did a great job with it.
