Hi Gang,

I have been busy trying to tie up things in the studio.

I went to make cats eyes for my daughters birthday mirror mosaic. And twice I did not like them. I decided it was past time to build a dichro sampler. and since it would be used as a tool for the rest of my life it had to be pretty too.

I made blobs from all my transparent 96coe glass and then all my opal glass. I used the sampler box from Dichro Magic, or Austin Thin Films. The trick was to not get them mixed up before I fused them to their base glass.

It's a good thing it is just a tool because yesterday I cracked the white sheet in 5 places messing around with the zinc. I HATE zinc! I for got to tim it a head of time and the heat took out my white glass. Then it still would not give me a nice copper patina so I scrubbed it off twice and finally left the out side silver. I hate Zinc!

But over all I like  my new pretty tool and I will never get the cats eyes the wrong color again.

The cat mosaic is not finished yet. I will post it in a few days.

Aiden and I were also busy this week making birthday cakes and stepping on them.

way too cool -- if only a flat glass sample set could be so compact!!!

Oh I agree, but you need a much bigger piece of each one to really know what you are doing.
