Yesterday I went to plug in my new kiln and noted that the plug on the kiln was a Nema 6-50P. The website stated you needed a Nema 6-50R receptacle. The receptacle has a "U" shaped hole at the top of it, while the plug had a round post on the top of it. I was peeved...how could they post the wrong info...now I have the wrong receptacle installed and they are not cheap. ...I fired off an email to them.

I did some surfing online trying to find a Nema 6-50P receptacle...could only find plugs....the AHA MOMENT happened......

I confess..I know very little about electrical stuff, and this post proves it.  I didn't realize that the P stood for "Plug" and the "R" stood for receptacle...duh! Well I went back out today and tried the plug in that receptacle and lo and behold...it fits! I assumed because of the different shapes of the 2 parts that they were not a match. I guess I now need to fire off another email to retract the first one..LOL

Live an learn...

Well we all have those moments!  Welcome to the club pal!  What I like is when people set their ego's aside and admit to their "moments"..now that's a REAL human being!
I could list all of mine..but it would take too long. LOL.

Kev:

Don't you just hate it when people down grade your stupidity with remarks like "don't feel bad" or "we all have those moments". People just won't stay out of the way and let you suffer like a man; let you be proud of your stupidity. It's yours to cherish.

I'm not going to fall into that. Unlike the others, I'd like to re-affirm you self judgment. That was really stupid!!

Don't think you have the corner on the "duh" market. I have my share. That is why they say, "You live and learn."
