I've been asked to make a stepping stone of the University of TN logo -- because of all the pointed edges, I was thinking of using a layer of white indoor/outdoor grout on the top then pouring the concrete like I normally would and once it is out of the mold depending on how the concrete dries I might grout the sides as well so they look white as well...

Does anyone have any experience doing something like this? Will the grout adhere to the concrete?

Any advice would be much appreciated as it is a Father's Day gift so I need to get moving no later than May 1st.

thanks

Hi LA,

You might want to use Flashcrete, which dries fairly white...it might be slightly more expensive than regular concrete.  But I don't know if grout would hold up long term in this application.
