Glasseye is a graphic program for designing stained glass designs, but has other uses as well if you need something drawn. You can download a free trial version to play with, but you will not be able to print anything with it, and it does not have all the options of the purchased version. Still...a good way to learn using it.

I sorta figured it was software and that demo sure makes it look easy. The cost calculation feature makes it nice. I use Linux and will have to check to see if that app. is available in the open source community. It will be free! There is usually an open source prog. for every one of the Micro$oft apps.

The open source community offers many paint progs.  but that one speeds up the design process to lightning speed and I don't like using "Wine" to run those propriety driven apps. in Linux. (too slow)

Not sure you will find an open source program to match GE, but you may find one similar.
