Just playing with a new kiln I got for Christmas.  This was fun to make and easy for a beginner like me.

Is the pattern in the mold or do you scribe it somehow?

What kind of kiln did you get?  I'm almost sure what I"m going to get but would like to get feed back on all of them first.

I bought that mold a couple of years ago and haven't used it yet.  I like your results!

It is the pattern in the mold that makes all the swirly designs.  The glass did not look nearly as cool before it was fired, sort of drab, but when it was fired, all the colors came out!  I liked that!

I too was talking to everyone who would tell me about kilns when I decided to get one.  There are some great older threads on this web site with lots of helpful hints and recommendations just search "kiln".  But after all that I found a posting on Craig's list for a "new" kiln that had never been used.  Finding that very hard to believe, but after talking to the very nice women who answered all my questions about it, I drove about an hour and a half to her house to see it.  Sure enough, still in the box, the coils showed they had never been hot at all.  She bought all the accessories to go with it and was selling it all for half what I would pay if I bought retail for the same thing!  It is an Evenheat brand with a digital controller.  It is hexagon shape (thought I would prefer square, just for space) but with the deal on the price, I did compromise there.  It is about 11 1/2 inches across and 6.5 inches deep.  So far I am loving it.  Uses 110 electric plug so that was a plus as I did not want to rewire to use it.

Don't you love it when you find the best deal in the whole state?
