This is my second lamp.... I had a hard time getting it to keep the shape when lifted to solder panels together but finally managed to do a fair job on it. I can't say I really am happy with it but it was a learning experience. I used the black electrical tape to hole it for lifting and did all the hints I found on here so I guess it could have been worse. I will take it for my first panel lamp and be happy but pratice will surely help on future ones.

It really is lovely and for a second effort I would say really well done. Doesn't matter how many times we do something it does seem to get better every time.

I haven't had the nerve to attempt one yet. I love the color you chose.

Thanks everyone for all the nice comments. I am not exactly sure what the glass is. It was a large piece that came within a big deal I got from a couple having to quit because of health reasons. I loved the color and could just see it as a lamp. Thanks again to all. I am going out of town for a few and want to wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS.

The lamp is spectacular!
I might know why you had trouble "raising" the lamp using electrical tape. My guess is the texture of the glass kept the tape from sticking well enough. I have had students have trouble with the tape sticking because they didn't wash the panels first and sometimes you just get a bad roll of tape!

On textured glass, it helps to "burnish" the tape, like you do foil. It'll get rid of most of those air pockets, where the tape isn't in full contact with the glass surface.

Thanks Rebecca and Graham for the input. The tape was what was causing the problem. It is a really textured surface and the tape just kept wanting to turn loose. I will try to burnish it to get more contact with the rough surface the next time. I had cleaned each panel well so think it was probally the rough surface I did not think about. Got some new patterns in the mail so going to try another one soon.
