Help Please,

Any suggestions on what brand of grinder is most preferred?  I am starting to have trouble with mine. It is a small Gryphette that came with the "starter kit" I purchased when I first started stained glass.  I would like something a bit bigger, and I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks for any help you can give.

I'm using a Glastar Diamond Star Karen.  I've used it since I started doing glass.  I'm on my second one now. The first one still does work but I let a bit get frozen on the stem and my hubby had to get it off for me.  It sounds a bit sick when I use it so now it's my backup.  But yes, Glastar is a good unit.

Glastar is good stuff!! If you can afford it - go to the G-8. It's the pick of the litter.

Thanks all!

With all of the reading I have done, I was leaning towards Glastar.  Isn't this kind of shopping fun?

Although the G-8 would be wonderful - I've had good service from my Glastar Diamond Star - and I do quite a lot of grinding!
I agree, Karen - this is a great way to get input from people who actually USE the products.

I have the Glastar All-Star since I started glass 3 1/2 years ago.  No problems with it.

Thanks all!

Went to my local glass shop today.  I wanted to check out the price of the Glastar grinders.  I almost fainted!  The only one they had was the Super Star, and they had it listed for $279.00!  I have found the All-Star priced for $203.00 (Cdn.) on-line; the Super Star for $148.11, and the Diamond Star for $127.73.  I knew it would be priced higher at the shop, (they have to make some profit), but I did not think that it would be almost double the price.  It sure pays to do your research.

On another note, has anyone tried the Aqua Flow System for the Glastar grinders?

Since I have started working with glass, I have always used Inland grinders, and have had no problems with them at all.  I still use the original one I bought. They are reasonably priced as well.
