earring backs

So..I am having a problem with my earring backs on my earrings.  They are coming off some when they are worn.  Any one else have this problem??  I get surgical steel findings at Craft Warehouse...are there any that are better made but not so pricey??

I have had the same problem Marsha using silver plate and surgical steel. Even if I grind that backsides, they were still not secure enough that I felt confident selling them. I've tried several types of adhesives and none worked to my satisfaction.

My Opals came appart recently, I put them together with Araldite over thirty years ago. I've always used it without problems.  If you are using something with a hardness factor of less than 6 preferably 5and under, you could probably drill and use pearl post backs. Glass is 6 and over, can you make provision for that during the firing process? Another option could be a convex dimple, [would that be a dumple?] on the back and use cup backs.

Thanks you two for the comments.  I am talking about the back that holds the earring on to your ear.  I haven't personally lost one yet but others have.  I wear my earrings pretty tight.

Marsha, get the ear discs..they are like an ear nut with a plastic disc around it. They hold the weight of the earring better, especially heavy glass.....Fire Mountain sells them quite cheaply.

Is this what is used for dangly earrings?  You just glue to the looped end??

There are glue on bails for earrings with small loops at the top. Open the small loop on the ear wire and slip in the loop of the bail, then close the ear wire loop.

The discs I spoke of are for stud earrings. You can also get small little slide on stoppers for ear wires that are put on the wire after it's in place. It keeps the wire from backing out of the hole if the earring is heavy.
