My daughter recently purchased a victorian home that had been turnend into a duplex.  The place still has the 2 one hundred year old front doors with the beveled glass and fancy door knobs and back plates.  Thought I would design a window for her that she can afix to the inside of the door.

The color is way off from what I was looking for.  Looking for more of a steel or colonial blue.  But it is a start.  I am sure she will want some changes.

What a pretty design, I agree it will fit the design of the house nicely.  I hope you will post the finished piece!

I like the color! We had similar one's (minus the blue) in our old home in Baltimore so I really appreciate the style. Your daughter will be happy to get that.

Thanks for the kind words.

Went to the house yesterday to see the progress she is making.  She was just finishing up on staining the old floors.  After she does the polly on them, one side will be ready for her tenant.  I'll tell ya, I am really proud of her taking on such a huge project.  She has done a great job.  She wants her tenants to feel like it is their home rather than a rat trap apartment, that is why she has done everything with top notch materials.

When I designed this panel, I hadn't even measured the window opening.  It was an eyeball guess and it turned out to be a darned good one.  The opening is 23 and 1/2" and I did the design as 22".  Not much to adjust the dimension.

She hasn't seen the design yet.  Have to email it to her today.

Kokomo also has some good, steely blues and the textures are much more authentic to the period of the house than Spectrum would be. Wissmach also makes more appropriate Victorian period looking glass. - Tod

PS: I'd also suggest the following: Use lead and add a small, outer border of regular thickness glass rather than having the bevels in the outer border.

thanks Tod.  I wondered myself about the bevel on the outer border.  Showed it to my daughter last night, she loved it but she thinks she would prefer all clear texture rather than color.  It will be a while before she is ready for me to make them so we'll see what she ends up saying.
