I've been moving this mold around for a long time and finally decided to give it a go again.  My problem was that my kiln shelf has a 12" workable surface and the mold is bigger than that!! As the first run through the kiln is a tack fuse I didn't think I'd get a workable plate if I cut the 13+ inches anyway and let it fuse over the edge of the shelf. The second fuse is a slump and maybe it would still work but that seemed like a stretch. So I cut the edges of the star off (as you can see) and the next go (if I do it again) I'll have to do a better job on them but this was to see how it would come out.  This is not my favorite color of glass but it was the one I had most of that I wouldn't mind losing if/when this didn't come out. So, it did work, kinda, although I really don't like having to cut down the outside edges of the star. I tried this last year using overlapping pieces of glass, didn't really like how it came out either.  So, if anyone has any other ideas I'd love to hear them.

So........those of you that are thinking of buying a kiln - get the biggest one you can afford cause it's going to end up being too small anyhow!!

Anne, I think it looks terrific!  Other than rounding the points a bit I can't think of anything that you could do to make it work better!  You done good, kiddo!!  smiley  Are we getting ready for Christmas??  wink

Are we getting ready for Christmas?  Well, one might think so, lol.  But truthfully the thought that this mold was getting the best of me was driving me crazy!! So, now I can move on and get back to making stuff for the spring shows! Sure wish I had bought either a bigger kiln or a smaller mold tho, isn't hindsight always 20/20!

I think it's really neat! I'd have never known you had to round the edges off to make it work, it just looks like it was meant to be that way.
Glad you got to use that neglected mold!
