Has anyone made earrings with clear backed dichroic??   I just got some beautiful colors and they are clear backed.  Do I just cap it as I would the black backed??   Thanks!

When I have used clear dichroic, I usually back it with black glass and turn the dichoric side against the black glass thereby creating a clear cap over the dichroic. You can do the same using clear for the back as well. I have found that the problem in using a clear base with clear dichroic glass, is that the dichroic coating does not show up very well as compared to when a darker color is used for the base.

The other problem with using a clear cap or base with clear dichroic, is that you can see the glues on bale through it.

The only other option is to drill them and make a bail for them to attach to ear wires.

Well I have been playing with these for a week or so and I really like they way they turned out!  And of course my daughter came over and scooped up all the ones she wanted....I made her pay for some......I'm so bad!!  But I have already blown through a good portion of the new dichroic!

I haven't done much with dichroic, but here are a couple of my playing from some time ago.  The red ones are clear dichroic on red the other is dichroic on clear capped with clear.  I found them the other day in with my ugly beads and gave them away.

They're beautiful.  Are they lampworked?

They are kiln fired not lampworked.  I made them several years ago playing with my kiln.  At about the same time I bought a torch and played with some rod also.  The beads were so UGLY that I entered them in an Ugly Bead Contest and won in one of the categories and got an honorable mention in another, actually the beads were down right RUDE.  Some of you may remember the contest on another forum.  I didn't think the kiln fired things were ugly they just happened to reside in the same container with the UGLY beads.  I am over it now, I just went after a tank of propane for my torch.  A lead female vocalist at one of the shows likes making jewelry so I gave them to her last week.
