Hi Glorianna,  Welcome

On behalf of the AOG team, we would like to extend a warm welcome and we are glad you decided to join our forum. If you need any assistance, please feel free to ask any member, we are more than happy to assist you.

To ensure our membership roster is up to date with active members, and as per the membership agreement, please be aware that inactive members that have been absent from the forum for 180 days will automatically have their membership removed.

Out of curiosity, how did you hear of us and ultimately find us and could you please let us know what type or types of glass (Cold/Warm/Hot) you enjoy doing?

One thing more - the only stupid question is the one that does not get asked.

Enjoy!

Hi Alan,

I simply found your site through a Google search.

I was a stained glass artisan for 30 years, working in cold glass.  I sold some through galleries, but mostly went to A&C Fairs.  I loved the experience, but rarely made a great deal of money—usually just enough to continue calling myself a business.

I did my own designing, and preferred to make panel-sized works with animal or mythological (or both) themes, but also made a lot of craft items.

You'll notice I speak of this in the past tense.  That's because of the incursion of severe arthritis in my shoulders.  Waa-waa and all that, but what can you do?

Anyway—and I hope this is not an offense—my main purpose here is to try and locate someone, or a group of someones, who would like to buy all my supplies, since I can no longer use them.  This is a harder task than it may sound, as the wholesale value of said supplies is, at a minimum, $25 thousand dollars.  While I have posted an ad on Craigslist, I felt it might be more fruitful if I could reach people who have specific interest in stained glass.

I did send a message (I think) to a group of members whose information showed they were within one state of my location (since they'd have to come here —Taos, NM—to get them.)  One person did reply already, but I really have no idea if the message reached the rest of them.

So, since I see that you are a founding member, perhaps you would let me know if I'm just being a pest, or if this is an appropriate place to do said search, and if so, how do I reach members who may be interested?

Thanks a lot,
Glorianna

Hi Glorianna,

Sorry to hear your unable to do glass anymore, though I am sure the love of glass will remain with you forever.

As far as reaching other members, you just did with your post.  Any member that is interested can pm you for more details. There is also a board near the bottom of the screen in the "Little Vitri Cafe" called "AOG Marketplace", where members can list items for sale.

Thanks for your help!

Yes, it made me sad to stop doing glass—I will miss the wonderful colors.  But I've started drawing again, and am now working on a series of books about trees, which I'm enjoying immensely.

Life goes on regardess, whether we can keep up or not.
