Hi Guys......it's that time again....

We are kicking off the start of another contest, and as of today you can enter. There is nothing to do to sign up, and you can enter up until midnight November 13th, which is the deadline for entries to be received for submission into the contest. After November 13th at midnight, entries will not be accepted for judging. Make sure when you submit your entry you send photo/s, and a narrative description of your interpretation regarding your entry. Entries missing these entry elements will not meet eligibility and will not be entered into the contest.

This contest is open to all members, and any type, technique, or methods of glass work can be used. Any materials may be used to add embellishments or features, but the finished product must primarily be made of glass....after all..that is our passion..LOL.

This contest is a seasonal/holiday exchange with the theme: "Lighting The Winter Night". This is open to your interpretation. Examples: It could be a fan lamp, candle shelter, or an outside luminary, a panel depicting a winter night with the moonlight hitting the snow..you get the drift (pun intended...LOL)..light meeting darkness, whether figuratively with a light source casting light into the a darkened room, or depicted in a design.

The premise of the contest is that each entrant makes 1 Winter/Holiday inspired piece.  At the close of the contest, the membership will judge the entered pieces for the "Most Creative" piece via a poll.

The participants of the contest get to keep their own entries. The winner will also receive 2 gold, silver, or gold/silver combination gemstone pendants designed specifically for them by Focal Point Glass & Wire Works with a value up to $200.00. I will collaborate with the winner after the contest to get their design and gemstone preferences. Sorry guys...no diamonds...LOL. Also, Denice of Pisces Glass Works together with Focal Point Glassworks are offering 10 free patterns to the winner from our pattern site "Glass Pattern Source".

Any other member sponsors of prizes for the winner will be gladly accepted, but remain the responsibility of the contributor to deliver the goods offered at the end of the contest.

Once your piece is finished and you are ready to submit it, email your entry photo/s and narrative description explaining your interpretation to Kev for submission (glassact@tampabay.rr.com). Do not post your entry yourself. We want to keep who submitted each piece as a mystery until after judging.

Judging will be via a membership poll which will remain open from November 14th - November 30th. The winner will be announced December 1st.

There are only a few guidelines: 1) It must primarily be made of glass but can contain other elements.
                                            2) It must follow the theme of "Lighting The Winter Night"
                                            3) Max size not to exceed 12" in any dimension, though can be smaller as well.

Submitted pieces may be foiled, leaded, fused, cast, mosaic, painted, etched, sandblasted, torch worked, flat, 3D, hanging, non hanging....or any other method or style you choose. There is no restriction to color, glass or design...let your creativity and imagination run wild.

Lets see how creative you all are, and most of all.....HAVE FUN WITH IT!

Just to clarify, this is not a contest for everyone to make lamps, though if one chooses to do so, that is perfectly fine as well.

Sorry you can't join us Y.

Sounds like a fun idea Kev.  I just know with all the talent here at AOG and the creativeness of our members, I can't wait to see the different entries.  I have to give this one a lot of thought.  The size it's self can be a challenge.

Didn't think it was Kev, just that lamps are next on my list and the conditions of entry won't allow us to enter anything that is a commission or a gift.

I have a concept piece running around in my head, but I will have to do a project design to see if the concept will work.

Wow Joan, concept piece, project design.... I'm just working on an idea in my head while I drive the long slow expressway commute to work in the morning.  LOL

I am sure it will be something wonderful like your other work!

I know our prizes in general are not spectacular, but it's kind of nice keeping it all among ourselves.

I have been kicking around a few thoughts as well, but nothing concrete yet.
