Does anyone have a good schedule for 2 layers and design for a drop ring????  I want to make a"tall" one and I would have to run my square drop schedule about four or five times to have it drop that much!!

Marsha, why not take your own schedule for drop rings and hold longer at the process temp?  The only trick to a drop is watching it closely at process temp until it’s where you want it and then moving on to the next segment of your schedule.  This is one of the few instances that I crash cool to stop the process.  How long a drop are you talking about?  Two layers may not be enough.  A good rule of thumb is 1/4” of glass (2 layers) for the first 4” of drop. For each additional 2” of drop add another 1/8” (1 layer) of glass.

Thanks Becki!  I had been holding at 1300 for 90 minutes.  I want it to drop about 5 or 6 inches.  Got some new wrought iron holders to try out!!

Do you have enough room in your kiln to do a drop that tall?
You might also want to take a look at Stephen's tips on this subject.

Be sure you add at least one more layer of glass.

Marsha, I mentioned above that 2 layers would probably not be enough for what you want to do.  For a 6" drop to work well you need at least 3 layers of glass to keep the body of the drop from being too thin.
