setting stops to do multi cuts of the same length

the first picture is the stop with the glass lined up for a 5" cut

the second just show the strip cutter sitting on the glass that is resting against the stop

Can someone fill me in on the particulars of using a strip cutter?  I see them advertised but have no experience with using one - and I definitely can see the benefit.  My strips never seem to come out nice and straight, no matter now much grinding I do.  Thanks in advance!

This more of a "generic" strip cutter, as opposed to a "system", like "Cutters Mate"
or "Mortan".

Graham, this is great.  Thank you.  It would be really helpful if you could put it in hints and tips too if you don't mind, so we can find it down the road when we need it.
