There are several different types of "the third hand". Some only have one grabber, some have 2, and some even have a magnifying glass to help see your work better up close. Lots of different ones to look at if you google third hand. I have one I use now for glass, but originally got it when I was wire wrapping jewelry. Its old and wearing out so will probably have to get a new one before long.

Thanks for the info Tom. I have seen them but hadn't really thought about why I would want one until now. I am looking for the instructions for putting a flower together. Do you lay four petals down and solder, then add four more. It kind of looks like the star only without the hole in the middle.

De will be along soon. She has made several of these and I am sure she can give you some great advise.
When I do any of that type of thingie, I do one layer at a time, and add as I go. I found that if I over load the sides when beading them, I can use the excess solder to flow to the next petal that is up right. That flow is just enough to get a grab. Hope this helps till De comes along.
Forgot to mention that I use needle nose plyers to hold the upright item to get it in place. I have also used the sponge sanders, stacked one on top of another to lean an item on.

Advice from De might be slow, she is busy visiting Nancy! Info for stars is online somewhere I might have the info somewhere. Will look for you. Though I think the second picture of the pink flower says a lot. As a prop I often use Play Dough.

but I was serious. Sorry I should have realized you might not have seen one. Like Joan said do a layer at a time. They really aren't hard to do Marsha. I use a third hand that has one arm and it does everything I need. I've done a lot of 3D stuff and if you just tackle one piece at a time you should be able to do it. Once you get it going you'll be surprised at how it flows.

I have never seen anything like them. How Neat!!! Do they hang from the wire on top or do they have a stem? What is the overall size? I am intrigued .. .. .

This is the description...... This design features a 3-dimensional flower blossom bursting with color. There are a total of 15 petals; five clear lavender and ten clear pale pink; with wire detail done by hand. Dimensions - 3.25" x 3" All stained glass pieces are designed and created by me with no two pieces exactly alike. Custom orders always welcomed.
