Those of you who have dealt with 110v and 220 v can possibly relate to this.....
So a friend and myself are working on a mosaic project today....truckin' along placing glass, oh and thought I'd give the No Days sheets a try that I bought in December. So I have some glass placed and decide to melt the No Days with my nifty heat gun....you know, the Chicago brand one. I get about 4 inches melted and the gun smokes and hummmm all the sudden isn't getting hot enough. I take out my hair dryer and it was working better.....
I went and told DH I was going to buy another heat gun because the one I have is crap. He said did you put it on a transformer? OF COURSE NOT! Why would I do that, it would make perfect sense haha. So I toasted it :( I can't say it was crappy machinery....it's was a momentary mindless moment on my part haha.
Oh well....I got a 220v Hot Air Gun now and the rest of the project was pretty easy. They will get grouted later in the week. At first I couldn't figure out what to use these for since they are about 20" tall.....then it came to me...they will be doorstops!

When I was in Germany I let a friend borrow my boombox and told her she had to use batteries or a transformer -- well she got tired of buying batteries and plugged it straight into the wall -- wouldn't even work with batteries after that and when she gave it back she said it just died -- guess she thought I was too stupid to see the black area where the plug attached. It was a nice one too that had removable speakers!!!
After that everything I bought was 220 and I sold it when I left for almost as much as I paid for it (some people were too lazy to shop the economy)

Hold on!! Just a damned minute!!
Ya can't just come storming in here and expect to get away with a statement like "I did the stupidest thing". Whether it is or is not the stupidest thing is up to the judges. You can nominate your actions for the daily competition, but you can't just assume that what you did was, in fact, the stupidest.

We need other nominees before we decide. We don't just give the "stupidest" award easily. You have to really earn it, and what you did is common.

When we were stationed in Germany I never plugged my stuff into the 220 without the transformer, but I think it still messed up my grinder. It started cutting off on me when it would get hot. I used the cooling fluid too. I think the converters are just hard on your equipment. But you do have to use them, Very frustrating. One day I'll buy a new grinder but I am too cheap to do that until mine completely gives out.

Hey! How come I didn't see your "door stops" before? Those are really cute! Do you buy them (flowers) someplace, or have them made for you?
I STILL haven't done any mosaics! Well, unless you count the little stepping stone my son and I did 6-7 years ago from a kit. But I haven't done any since I started amassing these great boxes of scraps. Wanna provide free lessons online?

Awwwh those are cute doorstops! I keep saying I'm going to do a mosaic one of these days, like Gwen my closest experience was doing a kit with my 9 yo granddaughter..so I'm right behind Gwen on needing the tutorial..to get the juices going.
Really cute Malinda!
