I saw this print and fell in love with it, I wrote the artist, Jonathan Green and he graciously gave me permission to recreate his art in stained glass.  I am only making this one, but it has become the challenge of the year for me.

Just after taking this picture, I took it back to the shop to patina and wax and put the finishing touches on and it fell!!!! omg

I am not sure if this is the right heading to put this post in as now, it is a repair job!  I was so devastated that I put it away for the past two weeks.

Now, I have pulled out the left over glass, ordered a few of the pieces I had special ordered for this window and am determined to get it finally finished.

I am posting it here to give myself some motivation to get back on the horse that threw me.....

Anyway, I recommend everyone visit Jonathan Greens web site, he is just fantastic!!  I have posted a copy of the print that I used for my inspiration and the un-patinaed version that was so close to finish....

That is an absolutely beautiful piece - you have done his work justice.  I know how hard it is to get motivated from a finished piece of art to a repair.

I think at one time we have all been there and done that!!!!  I had my giraffe totally soldered on one side, while turning it over lost grip and it fell and every outside background piece broke and the face broke!  I was so upset - had to special order the background glass - I finished it, but it was still upsetting.

omg!!  I can't imagine having to repair this!  No wonder you put it aside for a while,  I would have been heartbroken.  What a  wonderful piece!   Good luck with the repairs.  Just keep thinking how good it will be to have it restored to it's 'former' glory!   How big is it?
p.s. - I know I'm I.T.  challenged, so maybe it's me,  but I can't find a pic of the original print??

I am posting it at a jpeg file, hopefully that will work better.  This is the inspiration work

There are 12 pieces that broke when it fell, but who is counting  Oh Duh

I have no one to blame but myself for this mishap, but that does not make anything better....

well I know I posted to this earlier but it's somewhere in computer ether I guess.  I agree, what a stunning panel and such a nice compliment to the painter! I hope it flows for you when you can get back to it.  And Yes, We can all empathize, I'm sure there's nobody on here that hasn't gone through this.  Hang in there!

Thanks for posting the original - you did a great job of 'duplicating' it in glass.  Looking forward to seeing the completed piece!

Been there, done that!  I know just how you feel.  The pattern is great.  Just fix it and don't procrastinate.

It is really hard to redo something that you have already done well, but it will be beautiful.  Keep working, you are sure to be pleased in the end.

Nice piece though rotten  Stuff Happens that you had to repair it, but definitely worth it!!!
And, you have an additional story to tell about it's creation.
The artist must have been flattered.

When the repairs are done - are you going to send the artist a picture of your finished stained glass picture?  If you do I would love to hear his response.  You have done an outstanding job on this piece!

Oh brother, do I know this story all too well.  I have a piece that I just finished that was an almost finished product until my grandson got his hands on it...then it turned into a repair job.  Unfortunately, I let it sit for awhile..maybe that was good for me though.  LOL, I was lucky enough to unbury some of the same glass (the last piece I had) to make the repairs with.

You did an outstanding job creating a pattern from his artwork, I'm sure that he's going to be very flattered and amazed with what you did with his painting in glass!  It's outstanding!

I have been finishing up another piece that I started in the mean time and am almost done with that one.  Got to finish up what I have started or it gets away from me.  I read about when your grandson got into the glass shop...... this is one hobby that generates some adventures for us though.

I sent it out to have the pattern made, I am not that artistic.  But I do have it hanging where I have to see it every day and by next week anticipate that I will get it fixed.

I went to Jonathan Green's web site - he is a very talented artist.  There are a couple of paintings that would look wonderful in stained glass.  I looked for your original print and couldn't find it - so glad you posted.

The print I am using for my stained glass is not on his web site, but I agree, a lot of his work lends itself to be done in stained glass.  I have become a big fan of his work!

I saw this print hanging in one of the offices I go to for my work and immediately saw the "glass potential" in it.  It was part of a calendar with each month a different picture of his work.
