Don't know about your part of the world - but around here,  an end of year (October - Dec.) market  will far outsell any other.   Of course, added to that is the high petrol (gas) price and a generally depressed economy.....:-(   Hope the next one is better for you!

p.s. - forgot to add - I did a little morning market 'out of town'  on Saturday and several people asked if I'd  be at the Christmas Market - I said yes,  but also will be there for the 10 Day festival in June/July.......but they still wanted assurance that they could get stuff  'at Christmas time'.   Of course - it's Summertime at Christmas here....dunno if that makes a difference??!!

that's been my experience for a numbers of years now - I've always done better at the fall shows than most of the spring/summer ones.  I used to do a great show on Canada Day (July 1) but sales at that one really dropped after the crash in 2008 - and as things aren't a whole lot better now I don't see sales being a lot higher - but I plan for that now as I'm sure you all do. I do take Christmas stuff to the spring/summer shows now which I didn't used to do, but people were asking for it so you want to please your buying public right? I make about a third of what I used to make (to sell) and I'm hoping this year to end the year not having a lot of inventory to count. My hubby keeps saying 'is this really worth it" but I can't imagine not doing glass.  Hopefully in a couple of years people are still going to have some money to buy our creations but there are some days it does look a little bleak. Scary eh?

Anne,
Its a tough time out there for everybody and there seems to be no set pattern for what show do well and which ones don't.  Due to my circumstances I closed Black Jack Stained Glass this year but I'm keeping up with shows and such through Mike at the Glass Gallery - he is signing up for single day shows.
He also did a charity piece and it is a silent auction type of sale and it stays on display for 3 weeks and then the auction takes place.  He already had a bid of $1000.00 on it - its a tambourine that he added a nautilus shell and other glass work on it.  The charity is called Instruments of Art.  I had volunteered to do the tambourine prior to me getting sick and Mike being the wonderful person he is volunteered to make an instrument and he choose the tambourine.  Seems there is money for charity-but not sure of shows.

Different 'strata' of shopper/client??   Or we could hope that people in general are starting to think of those less fortunate than themselves....???
Hope you are doing well and will soon be back doing glass, Evelyn!

We always found that fall shows did much better than spring. In the spring, people like to get out and see stuff after hibernation. In the fall, they've got Christmas shopping on their minds. But I'm sure that gas prices don't make things any better. Does anybody have anything left in their wallet after filling the tank??

I only do one Spring show and it is always the week before Mother's Day so I tend to do fairly well; especially considering I put a sign out reminding people of Mother's Day...

I'm only on the 2nd yr with my current show (did a different one for 4 yrs on the same weekend) and last year was our historic flood so I'm curious to see what it will be like this year :-)
