It takes talent to make a spider look pretty.  I love all of your bugs.

Mary,  I cut the calex's out of copper sheet,  then 'work' them into shape using an old brass pewter ball tool -though anything with a firm ball /rounded end will do,  (if you've ever done pewter work this will make more sense)  to curl up the ends and plump them out over the top or the flower/bud.   Solder in place,  add the wire stem and blob for seed.   This does'nt sound too coherent to me - so if you want visuals,  I'll try to take pics this weekend!?!

Pictures as promised.   Hope these help to make it clearer.

These are GREAT. I love them. Especially how you put clear beads on spider web to look like dew drops. On the butterflies are those purchased bodies or did you make them?

Thanks!
I just solder the wings together - at a slight angle - then add the solder 'body'.   Remember these are small, - under 3" across.  If I'm making bigger ones,  I add a wire strengthener into the wing  seams, (i.e. between the upper and lower wings) - across both wings,  on the back.

Beautiful...and as usual, as a newbie to this site> INSPIRING!!!! Every post I open, I find my creative juices roiling!!! I can see myself getting into that: Laying awake all night cuz I can't shut my brain off from thinking of all the projects I wanna do!!!(I've been known to have 3-5 projects all on the go at once(heck what else do you do when you are waiting for one project to cure?>start another one!)ha! I would attempty to make all these as they are so cute! I mostly give all the stuff I make away to friends, they always get my first(and usually only) attempts, cuz I move onto the next one out of a million projects wanting done....I just LOVE all the detail that is the deal maker with these! The leaves/spiders/wire work!

Thanks, Jane.  Yup,  detail is my forte - and when it comes to selling/making my money back, also my downfall!!   But it's what I love doing -and that's what counts for me!   I know just what you mean about always planning the next project....... laugh   Certain things,  that are never quite the same each time anyway, are my 'rent payers' that keep me in supplies - and then there are the things I do just because I want to!   Some are gifts, some sit around for ages - but generally the old adage " there's a buyer for everything" is true.   Ya just gotta have patience!
Enjoy exploring your imagination!

These are great Elizabeth!  You always amaze me with your originality!  I love how you did the calex's for the flowers, very realistic and beautiful!
It's fun to fiddle with some detail work now and again!  These projects are very, very nice and I can see where they'd catch the eye of your customers!

Nice work!  De
