This will be my next project . I plan on doing this with lead came. Since I have it left over from the previous project. This is being made for me. I'm not sure what size I will make it. The original design is 14x20. I suspect I'll make it 18x24. I might even use orange instead of red for the poppies. I'm also thinking I might add some simple painted details to the Poppies.

That's why I love it so much and the fact that it's all clears with a punch of color.

I love this design!  And I think that the clear textureds with that pop of color will be wonderful!  I'd definitely use a more orangy red, it will look great!

Can't wait to see your progress.  It always feels great to keep something for ourselves once in awhile!!

You go!  De

Here is today's progress. It's building up very fast..got to love that! I'm trying Rebecca's suggestion of using the push pins for spacers to replicate the thickness of the heart of the lead came....I'm loving it!

I decided on Spectum Ice for the outer border. The inner thicker border is clear glass that will be sandblasted to frost it. The background of the Poppies is going to be Spectrum Rain. The Poppies themselves are going to be the amber/ruby red waterglass. Using this glass, there is enough play in the colors that painted details will not be needed. The stems will be the 2 tone olive/sea green water glass. The small circles are an amber that I believe is an Armstrong glass.

Now when I say soon I'm usually meaning in a few days or a week or two.  Your soon means hours! I'm impressed at how fast this is happening Kev.  And what you're planning to do with this panel sounds cool.  Looking forward to seeing this one finished and with light shining through. And at the rate you're moving that isn't going to be long is it? lol........

Back to work tomorrow, so I won't be doing much more on it till later in the week. It builds up pretty fast as most of it is all straight cuts. I had planned on blues for the small circles, but thought it looked a little out of place, and really liked the amber against the orange and green.

Cutting all the pieces and using the pins as spacers really speeds up the process, rather then cutting one or a few pieces and leading them up and moving on. This way I will be able to do a lot of the leading all at once.

Here are the colors, along with the sandblasted clear and the small amber circles.

Barbara, I'm with you, love this pattern and I too miss doing glass, but thankfully there is this site and I can enjoy glass through the efforts of others.
