This has probably been discussed before, but here is a site detailing the making of large quatities of beach glass.

Cool idea. Though  I think I like the idea of walking along the beach finding it if your lucky enough to be near that kind of area.

I have seen some home made beach glass, doesn't have the same character as what the tides do. I'll walk the beach for mine too!

I would think you would need to do a lot of beach walking to find enough glass to assemble a large sized mosaic out of beach glass.  With all the scrap glass I have here, I think that this may just be something to consider.  My neighbor has a cement mixer that I am sure he would let me use at some point, so I think this may just be something I will give a whirl at some point.

Thanks so sharing

Thanks for posting that EZ.  LOL I don't know of anyone with a cement mixer, but I have heard that Rock Tumblers do a good job as well and can be had for a fairly reasonable price.

As far as the differences between ocean tumbled and man made tumbled glass, there's not much difference (unless the man made isn't tumbled long enough to achieve the same look).  Beware, if you purchase Beach or Sea Glass online (Ebay, Etsy, etc.) some of the vendors are selling man made tumbled glass, and you won't be able to discern it unless they are honest in their advertising.  It's driving the people who collect and sell Sea Glass nuts.

I think that there is a certain romance to making something out of personally collected sea glass, but I can also see the benefit of tumbling your own.  In my case, even though we have beaches that sea glass can be found on, you don't find much of it these days, and by early summer most of it is going home in the pockets of the tourists.  LOL
