This is my first stained glass from back in high school.

It's kind of depressing that my soldering was better back then, then it is now! oh well  Stuff Happens and I will just keep practicing!

This panel has been hanging in my parents living room ever since, and it makes me happy every time I see it!

enjoy!

Thanks Malinda and Lynn.

I was never in an art class in high school, i just had a free hour and wandered down to the art room to see if I could be in there on my free hour.
When the teacher agreed to it she asked me what I wanted to do, and right away I was drawn to stained glass.

I'm just thankful I have gotten back into it!

Thanks Kev, I have a feeling if I would have kept it with me it would have been put away and forgotten about. So I'm glad my parents kept it!

The more I look at that picture though it worries me, because it doesn't look like the hangers are held on by much? I'll have to go over there again and check them, I'd hate to see it fall someday.

Ya I agree about the hangers...maybe bury them right into the solder line with a loop made with copper wire....but then again, they have hung on this long.

That's what I was just thinking! about the time I go and mess with them, THEN it will fall!

I think I will take a peak at it and see just how good it is being held on just to be safe.

But.......Murphy's Law being what it is now that you 'spoke' it out loud you'd be well advised to check those hangers :) (really soon).  A huge first project Joe, good for you.

Quick fix for hangers.
A little wire soldered up the front from an inch or two below the frame, through the loop and down the back an inch or two.

Graham,

Would I leave the old hanger on still?

I'm not Graham, but, sure.  Leave the rings on.  Solder a piece of wire to the seam that is below the ring.  Continue soldering the wire up the seam to the ring.  Run the wire through the ring, then solder it down the seam on the other side.

It takes ALL of us awhile to catch on sometimes.  It takes SOME of us awhile to catch on all the time.

Words of wisdom. I just need to figure out if I'm "all" or "some" lmao
