This is project I have wanted to do since I started doing glass. I never could decide on a design until I saw Kev's Regency pattern and fell in love with it. I finally got around to it after all the holiday rush. It took a while to decide on the colors and the glass but I finally came up with ones that everyone agreed on. The next was sizing the panel and tweeking the pattern to make sure it will fit. Now the only thing left to do is get it installed which will take a bit of woodworking on the door. We went to the cabinet shop and looked how they installed their glass and most were rectangle panels even with the arch design, and the reveal should not take away from the design. We intend to put some lights in the cabinet to back light it but not sure what kind since the wood shelves will block the light. I thought of rope lights around the inside but not sure...any ideas?

Di..it's beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!

how about those under cabinet puck lights mounted under the shelves? If the shelves are recessed from the front a bit, the light should hit the glass where the shelves sit and hopefully will not cause a shadow on the glass.

It is lovely Di.  The under cabinet puck lights sound good - I have them under my cabinets - but there's a border under the cabinets so the lights don't 'hit' you in the eye - you might have that problem with those lights shining a circle of light on one spot of your door.  Do the wood shelves go all the way out to the edge of the door?  If not could you mount two small spot lights at the top on each side of the door and angle themdown on the glass - and maybe two more on the bottom angled up?

Nice job!

Yes, very nice.
I changed out the wood shelves in my cabinet for glass and top mounted the lights. I did start off with rope but it looked awful from the get go.

you must be very pleased to have gotten a project done that you always wanted to do,  way to go girl.  Very nice.  Double thickness glass would be great inside the cabinet so that the light will distribute evenly.

Very nice! Is it going in one of the doors like that's in the background? I have a question (for anyone) when you have doors like that how do you get the center panel out?

Thanks everyone. I have thought about the puck lights or rope lights but the problem is the wood shelves. I think replacing them with glass my be difficult because this is a diagonal cabinet and the way the shelves are shaped we may have to take the cabinet apart to get them in will look into that further. Yes Malinda the door that its leaning under is the door it's going in. On the back of the door are wood strips holding the center panel in, we still may have to rout out the top part but wont know for sure until we take it apart. I keep you posted on the install process.

I ask because I have 3 I plan on putting glass in and have no idea how to tackle it? The center panels were damaged prior to being installed so they had to replace them. I kept them so I could put glass inside :) AND they'll match the rest of the wood in the house:)

Here is a suggestion.... I replaced the inside panel of our kitchen cabinets with glass (before I started doing stained glass) and my husband did the carpentry work.  He routered out the door to hold the size glass.  We used silicone to install our glass, but if I were installing stained glass I would use mirror clips so it could be removed for cleaning and repair if needed.  I am attaching pictures of one of the other kitchen cabinets which the panel has not been removed (for comparison), and one of the glass replacement. A picture of the inside edge too.   A picture of the lights we installed in the cabinets and I replaced the wood shelves in this cabinet with tempered glass shelves.  They hold plenty of weight.
