I really like this piece!! I sometimes do glass on glass work, but don't grout it....Interesting effect, and stops folks at the shows....annabelle

I ran out of window space years ago! I need you in Florida, about to tear out the laundry and use a bunch of leftover tiles/broken scraps for a benchtop in the laundy. I'm no good at mosaics, always start off with good intentions but end up discarding them. Like to look at them of course! Wish I was closer...really love to use up old tile...just hate to see it thrown away. I've got a friend of mine that's dropping off some old tile that someone was throwing out...yeah for me!! :)

I do several shows a year...this one will go in my one coming up in April. They do pretty well since they are so different than the usual stuff you see.

You can say that again! Really nice, Meaco. Your patience is incredible!

Most excellent Meaco! You've done it again. Your mosaics are just beautiful and very well done! Love the colors in it. LOL..if there's a list of places that Meaco has to go to to help with mosaics..please add me to the list. I've always wanted a mosaic backsplash..just need someone to get me started!

Funny, Kev and I were just talking today about this very subject, either backsplash in my room or a border around the room of it. I just need the perfect design and that's what I'm going to do :) I think from here out if the project isn't already cut and waiting for me (like a couple are) it's going to be gog mosaic till either my mosaic bases are used up or my scraps are down to a reasonable level.
Maybe we need to make some kind of challange/contest out of this since so many people want to do mosaic backsplashes?? Kev??

I have been wanting for years to do a mosaic to cover a bare white area behind my stove. It is like they never finished that area when the kitchen was built. Since I can't really get in there to work, I think I have to do the project on a backing lying flat, then install it. I was sort of waiting for that "one day" when I would get granite counters so I knew what way to go with a mosaic. I got my granite a few months ago. Now I just need inspiration to design it.

Seems like there a few people interested in backsplashes. Since these are projects that take much planning and time to create, I'm not sure a contest is the way to go....maybe a collaborative group discussion/demonstration on the process with pics in progress as they come into being is the way to go. Create a thread in the mosaics board and start with the designing aspect with discussion also on installation options.

Maybe this will give me the much needed motivation to make a new one for myself. I made one years ago when I just started doing mosaics. At the time the only materials I used was old ceramic tiles and broken plates. The one I have now is just mounted on a routed thick piece of wood...suprisingly enough it has not warped at all. This time I think I would probably use a piece of concrete backerboard and use stained glass to put more detail in it.

I like the idea of doing it on a backer board. At least then if you tire of it, it's much easier to remove than if it's grouted and cemented onto the wall.

I always wanted to do the cockerel in mosaic, then it was sunflowers, then a tree of life. I recently bought pie tins... go figure!
