I broke out the saw today to cut up my cracked kiln shelf into dams. It worked like a real charm! I ended up with a set of four 14", four 8", four 6" and six 2". Not bad for what would otherwise be garbage. One 10" dam alone was going to cost me almost $17.00.
I guess I'll give pattern bars a try. I want to try the boiled glass as well.

Ours is a dinky saw and works well, I'll bet that big one is pretty slick. Don't forget the eye protection!

Well Di, I am about done with this winter, enough is enough. -10 yesterday morning and this morning too. That was the real temperature, not the feel like one. It only climbed to about 12 today. But tomorrow should feel like a heat wave, up to about 30, or so they say, although the trade off will be yet another storm coming in for Tuesday into Wednesday. Some stations are saying we may be measuring this one in feet not inches.

Joan I so with you on this winter!!! I so tired of the cold we had a -17 real temp here overnight and Art had a Eye Dr appointment at 11AM and is was -5. It took forever to get the car warm and the windows were froze shut so had to open doors to pay the tolls. Today its 30 right now with another inch or so that fell last night...no wonder everyone is sick. I havent felt good since xmas. Spring Where are you!!!!
