Paul Tarlow has posted a new tutorial on his site that I thought you might be interested in...kiln pressed glass.  It looks like a very cool process and one that could produce very interesting results!  Might be a fun project when the hectic holiday season is over and we're looking for something new and different to do!

Oh, that is so nice!  Thanks Becki, something I'll be trying too. But as someone else asked, if you only have one shelf could you use a ceramic tile for the top?  Any ideas on that Becki? Oh man, my to do list is getting bigger and bigger.  Up till now it's been in my head, think I'll have to start another paper list in order that all these fun things happen.

AWESOME!!!! That's getting the mind juices flowing, but do you think it's only good if you have a sandblaster to get rid of the primer gunk? What if you layered it between fire paper & shelves???

Isn’t it a cool idea?

Anne, I think you could probably use a tile for the top as long as it will take kiln wash and be able to take the long holds in the recommended schedule.  You might just have to do a little test and see!

Amber, a sandblaster wouldn’t be absolutely necessary but you would have to have a way of cleaning any kiln wash that sticks to the glass.  Diamond hand pads would probably work on the stubborn stuff.  I’m not sure I’d use fiber paper because then you’d have the possibility of fibers stuck in the glass.  Just my opinion...you might have to do a test too!

I would suspect that the movement of the glass as it's compressed might pull on the fiber paper as it spreads and create a real mess on the glass.
