We all use horseshoe nails.  I had a box of them staring at me for a while.  Some of them turned into angel, dragonflies and butterflies.  Here are some of the angels....and I fould a couple of LARGE nails (more like spikes)....and they turned into dragonflies....they sell really well..  annabelle

If horseshoe nails are so cheap in the USA, send some here.  You only can get them with a farrier's license in the UK, or expensively from glass suppliers.

I owe Ann here a very public apology.....I posted inadvertently a picture she had posted earlier, without giving her proper credit......I did not even intend to post that particular photo.....It is the one in the middle of her cute dragonflies made with horseshoe nails......Ann, my most humble apologies!....I never made any like those in your photo.....I just thought they were cute, and saved them to a temporary file.  My computer has juggled some stuff, and that must have ended up there....Don't know what happened....Folks.....the cute dragonflies in the middle photo were made by Ann....NOT ME.....I clicked on the wrong button in my computer files.....I got the idea for the angels from her, and I made some butterflies with the nails, but they are not like these Ann made....Ann, please forgive my  blunder.  annabelle

The angel haloes are small circles from misc earrings and such...just any small ring I thought would fit....

I posted the photos in a big hurry this morning, and neglected to give proper credit for the idea......Back in August, Ann posted the middle photo to show some dragonflies made from horseshoe nails....I thought they were cute, and began to look at my box as a possible source for other things.....and, believe it or not, it finally lead to the dragonflies made from the spikes I found.....Thank you for the inspiration, Ann...and please forgive me for not acknowledging this in my first post.....annablle

You're welcome for the idea Annabelle and when I originally posted the pic in August I did so expecting that the idea would be copied.  That's how it works when you post a picture of something - or that's what I expected to see happen anyway. I do appreciate however your post clarifying what happened. Now go ahead and make them, but if you do it's much easier using non coated wire for the wings!

you could also just twist some 20 ga wire and wrap it around a felt pen or something small to get the circle Annabelle. I think someone (Graham?) posted a an easy way to twist wire using a drill a while back.

So they aren't that much cheaper in the USA.  I know they are really cheap for the farriers.

Yup...we can pay as low as $13 for a box of 250 and it can go as high as $30 for a box of 500. It all depends on they type and size of the nails, who makes them and where we buy them.

Thanks for all the comments, Folks!  Anne, thanks for the heads up about making the rings...I have done that on occasion, but since I haunt flea markets and yard sales and thrift stores, and already recycle so much old broken jewelry, I have a ton of little rings and things that turn into halos and wings and angel heads, among other things, that I don't have to make them, right now....I cam across your photo of a really cute spider you made last night, that is really cute, too....I may try my hand at the wire thing for wings at some point....I came across an idea when I was shopping while on a cruise where the artist had used wire for angel wings....I am going to try my own version of that and maybe post it...Tahnks again, Anne, for the great ideas!    annabelle

If you have a farrier supply in your area you can buy them yourself.
