I have never done a piece this wide before...it's 29 X 11 and I wanted to make sure that I am putting the restrip in the right place.  I was going to run it all the way across the top layer of bevels at the bottom of them and vice versa on the bottom row of bevels.  If I do that and surround the copper foil piece with a zinc border should I be good or does anyone suggest more restrip in other areas?  The blank right side of the piece is going to be 3 rows of words...for the law office.  My GE doesn't do words so I did them seperate.  Thanks in advance!!   grin

meaco:
What size zinc preimeter?
What will be done with this? Will it hang or be mounted?
Doesn't really look like it will need much reinforcing at only 11" tall... let's see more, maybe I'm early to judge? Restrip along the horizontal lines won't strengthen the possible horizontal hinges.

The zinc is 1/4"...I plan on mitered edges and it will be hung.  So...will putting restrip not help at all?  I'm just worried about the length and if will end up bowing in the middle.

Is there no a capital A on the Top Menu bar - circled in red below?
Your version may not have the Auto-trace feature, but you should still be able to put whatever text you want on your design in whatever text font is loaded on your machine.

Alan...it's there, I just don't have the version where it enables it to work.  It said I needed to upgrade in order to use the text feature.  It allowed me to play around with it, but I was unable to save...so I ended up doing it seperate.

Oh drat - I keep forgetting that I have an upgraded version (bit the bullet a couple of years ago and went with the Pro Plus), it's too bad you don't have that option as it is real handy.

I agree with Tod on the reinforcement. Well framed, it probably doesn't need it.

I'd go for a wider zinc or other hard metal (my personal choice would be brass)came
frame. At least 1/2", maybe even 3/4".  With chains running directly vertical
up from the corners the wider came will adequately support the middle.

The brass looks more "lawyerly" than zinc. A nice dark wood frame would also look
good in a law office.

Well, while I was typing and watching "Casablanca", Graham went ahead and posted what I said! Nice move! But here it is anyway... Evil Grin

I suggest a wider perimeter came. 1/4" sounds too flimsy to me. For that scale (esp the width), I'd use 1/2". And I suggest brass for this one.
Be sure to hang it from both top corners/sides. - T

I dunno, tho, G-man...wood? How about red plexiglas with wavy edges?

"red plexiglas with wavy edges??"  I dunno T. That sounds strictly "ambulance chaser"
to me. I'm thinkin' more classy mouth-piece type lawyers.

I just finished this last night...still debating on whether or not to patina.  But overall I'm happy and best of all the lawyer I made it for loves it! :)  This is my first panel incorporating words....challenging but pretty cool at the same time.  Thanks for the help with this...I ended up going with the 1/2" zinc which really made a difference. :)

Meaco, this is wonderful.  I would think he'd be pleased - and I'll bet you didn't charge him enough for it either!  Really nice work!
