Finally finished this piece last week.  It was in pieces in a shoe box waiting until I finished some other pieces.  It turned out much better than I thought it would!

Metamorphis! Maybe it's the colors but I am reminded of the Lubber grasshoppers, from tiny and black they grow into colorful 4" aliens!
Pulling out that shoebox was a gem of an idea! As said and asked, tell us more.

Thanks all.  I was putting off putting it together.  I am glad I finally decided it was time to empty the shoe box.
The pattern is mostly Chantal Pare's.  I found it on one of her pattern sites.  It is a little bit mine because I did not like how the top looked in Chantal's pattern, so I changed it a little and added the bevel.

I like the Egyptian idea.....maybe an Egyptian Jewel?

Well, it is easy to see what it is:  An alien (very small one) riding a grasshopper.

Addicting?  No, not at all.  I just spend most of my time in my workshop, and when I am not there, I am looking at patterns or making my own patterns, or looking at pic's of finished pieces on the net.  Hmmmm, maybe I am addicted.  But it is fun Ann.

That's a winner in my book. In fact it would make a nice story illustration.
