This is the 2 latest pieces I am working on as Christmas gifts for my family.
The amber piece has a black/clear/black pin strip border surrounded by an iridized border outside of that. In the pic the iridized glass face down, as I am firing it that way initially to get the crisp lines, and then I will flip and fire again. The amber center piece will have the addition of 4 iridized squares that will be dimensionally fired into place. I'm also tihnking of sandcarving a design into the amber as well...not sure yet.
The other white/persimmon plate I believe has the most pieces I've used so far in one piece...48 pieces.

It will either be these 2 pieces or something I've already made...I'll let them decide. I am interested in seeing how the stripes turn out as it is the first time in trying it.

I' not real sure about the white/persimmon piece..kinda blah to me...but my sister wanted fall colors. The other piece I think will be the exciting piece to me.

Does this mean "tack fused"? "American" often leaves me wondering what the meaning really is. :-)

I don't find the persimmon piece "blah" at all. I think it's a very eye pleasing design.

I'm pretty pleased with them so far. Still not real keen on the persimmon on...still kinda blah for me, but I have something in mind for it to spiff it up a bit. It had a divit on both sides where the glass I guess was a little scarce at one of the seams. I applied a little clear frit in that area and have it fusing again. Then I am going to contour fuse the iridized oak leaf branches I previously was going to use on a previous project. I think the touch of gold will spiff it up.
The one thing I did learn about doing pin stripes, especially if using clear as one of them, is that the ends of the strips must be perfect or it shows because of the clear strip. All in all though I am happy with it so far. It's all a learning experience.

No..a divit as in depression.....like the term golfers use when they swing and tear up a piece of sod.

Kev, I just love that plaid.
Looking at it quickly, it reminds me of my fave licorice candy. The one that is stacked with layers of black, white and a color. Yummy stuff, but hard to find.
