My first attempt at a tempered glass bowl.  Not too horrible, huh?

I love that!   Love the 'chunkiness' of it!    I'm not a warm glass person - so are those chunks you started with from a smashed car windscreen/patio door?

Cool indeed!

What are the things to be considered in working with that glass in comparison to regular fusing glass?

Thanks!
This was my first experience with tempered glass so I'm certainly no expert.  I did some research and talked to some friends that work with it and did find that it's definitely stiffer than regular fusible glass.  It takes a lot of time and heat to make it flow.  It's also prone to tin bloom and devit.  I got bloom and have to say that I like it!  Since I wanted a chunky, substantial bowl with some texture I started out with a top temp of 1440 with an hour soak. It softened more and is a bit smoother than what I'd like but the edges kept their chunky shape.  I'll pull back on the hold time with the next one.

Here's a link to some info and really nice tempered work.

I'm not a great fan of tempered stuff but have to say, chunky is rather nice.
Bridging is an interesting look, I hope she gets it figured out.

Cool Becki! I like this look too. I DO have to visit some local glass shops and give this a try!  Thanks for sharing.

The tempered turns out much greener than the float I have used. It also has a tendancy to bloom.

Love the experiment. It would look good with heavy clay bowls too.

I'm sorry, Beth...didn't see you up there!  Yes, they are chunks from a sheet of textured tempered glass that were to go into a small pocket door.  There was a small accident in Joe's shop and I got the result!  I'm going to fill this one with candy and give it to the contractor that Joe is working with!

That is very cool!  It reminds me of ice!  Really like it.  Good thinking to try to do something with the broken tempered glass!
