My Aunt had a panel that she received as a gift from another glass hobbyist before she moved from Kingston ON to NB. It was a bit different because it was open in some areas and had wire connecting some leaves to the outer border and to the stem of the rose. What happend was it was a bit flip floppy because of the location of some solder seams in the border and twisty beasue of the wire for the middle section. Anyways it fell and parts broke and twisted and she asked me to fix it for her. This was the first time I've even done anything like this and it was definitely a project *lol. After everything was done I kind of wish I had stripped it down more, solder built up in some areas that had wire ect. I felt bad for changing so much about it though, it was really in need of more structure, that I tried to keep the body the same. All in all it was fun though!

It was a bit more banged up then I expected *l, when she gave it to it was all wrapped up but from what she said it didn't sound like it was too bad. Then I open the bag and it was a doozy *lol. I just stared at it for a couple days   tongue.

I think that original piece was destined for this.....way too flimsy. I think it looks a whole lot better as your version of it, and certainly more structurally sound.

The original was probably very interesting, but not practical. You did a very nice job and one that should last.

Nice repair job Amber, and it should definitely be more sound than the "before" pic showed it to be...

I've done my fair share of repair jobs...some of them were fairly easy and some of them were bears...but I can honestly say I have learned something of value with every single one I've done and felt a great sense of accomplishment after they were put back together and beautiful again.  As I'm sure you are feeling now.

Never be afraid to take on a repair project...if you puzzle it out long enough you'll figure out a way to make it work..plus there's the nice added benefit of being able to ask folks on the forums for ideas as well!

Oh my! That looks like a near over-haul! Looks sturdier now, and a far cry better than it looked when it first fell into your hands!
All right!
