This is what I started working on today... I designed the pattern myself with a little help from Denise --thanks again De

The pattern is cut and I have the stems/tops and strawberries transferred to the glass and I'm already dreading all the small pieces...

The glass I will be using is:
red granite for the strawberries
mossy green for the stems and tops
dark green wispy for the big leaves
white flowers with yellow centers

the background is still to be determined -- something neutral -- probably an offwhite or pale yellow but I'll see once I get more of the pieces cut.

Thanks Audrey and Joan (or was it De herself visiting)

I agree the members here are some of the most helpful and friendly about it.

I now have the leaves transferred as well so I hope to start cutting after all my soldering is done on Tuesday.

Nope, not guilty...that was Joan (lol..but I can understand how it could be confusing...lol)  Lou Ann came up with a terrific pattern and I'm sure it's going to be beautiful when she gets it done.  I only did a little teeny bit of tweaking.  I also agree that people out here are THE BEST as far as being helpful to each other.  And I, as much as anyone, truly appreciates the help...particularly on my brain dead days.
Can't wait to see how it comes out Lastee!

Thanks De...

I'm a little anxious to see this one done as well; not my first original design but it was definitely one of the hardest to get from vision to paper.

here is a look at how the red granite looks as strawberries - these will either be suncatchers or glued to tealight holders; I'm also doing them a little larger to glue on garden stakes...

Hey, the granite is great for the strawberries!  Looking good Lou Ann!

De  (I'm myself now..a little less confusing...the snowstorm forced me to leave Joan's a bit earlier than intended.)

Didn't get as much done today as I would have liked but I'm just happy to have found time to do glass at all...

I don't normally start grinding like this but I couldn't get motivated to cut those tiny little pieces you can see drawn on the moss colored glass and I have yet to decide on background; hoping that once I get it all cut and ground a piece will jump out of the rack and say "Use Me"

thank you and those little pieces drive me absolutely bonkers!!!

I washed out my primary grinder real good today because the upper tray wasn't getting water last time I used it... if all else fails with it I have a smaller grinder that the top tray works great on but I have to pull the tool chest it is on out and didn't feel like doing that today...

hopefully I'll get the rest of it cut and ground tomorrow

I think the idea od a very pale yellow against the red and green could be quite attractive, also a cream color with or without iridization could work as well.

Looking good Lou Ann. I know how those little pieces can drive you crazy. When I did the ballerina that De designed for me I thing her ears were ringing alot.  LOL
But it looks great and I too think a cream or yellow would look great too.

Lou Ann - you could also make your strawberries bigger and make them into a night light! They're really cute!

Those iddy-biddy pieces are a pain for sure. They can sometimes be designed out of a piece, but there's a cost. Sometimes, those little details make the otherwise ordinary look extraordinary. I love simplicity, but sometimes a little extra is really a nice thing.

Anne,

Did you see the ones I posted earlier in the thread -- there are 9 of them on a workboard? They are about 4" or so in size and I will be gluing them to tealight candle holders; had not thought about putting them on the nightlight plugs -- thanks for the idea, I think I have a plug upstairs that I can play with to see how it will look.

I did see those Lou Ann which is what made me think of using them for nightlights.  Look at my recent post in the trading and exhange post - you'll see I have a thing for nightlights.  Actually you might want to use some of the copper I'm offering for leaves for the strawberries.  Just an idea!
