Thanks guys!

Your right Becki. This was fine frit I used in this piece. coarser frit would need a higher temp to soften the look. So everyone...experiment experiment experiment with your kiln.

I take really coarse frit up to 1410 in my kiln to soften it, but then like Becki and Kev said we have to experiment with our kiln to get the temp that works for us..

Here it is completely finished. I blasted the sand to give it a matte finish except a bit along the waterline to that was left shiny to look like the sand was wet. I removed the painting from the starfish as to me it looked too leopard-like in appearance and did not want it to compete with the sand carved heart with their names in it.

I included a pic of the back so you could see how it was put together.

A class job Kev! I can see you selling lots of these! I like the starfish better with the paint removed too!

That turned out great Kev!
How is the photo being held in? I couldn't tell from the back view.

It's one of those plastic frames that are "U" shaped. You just pull back the back piece and slide the pic in.

How is that plastic frame attached to the back of that glass panel? From your photo, the back looks like one solid piece of black glass with an opening off to one side:)

The plastic frame is glued to the black glass in the back. What you see as white is the frame with a piece of paper in it...otherwise it would be clear.
