I've just been putting an order together to send off to my wholesaler. 2 weeks ago I'd sent them an email to enquire about current prices on something that wasn't in the catalogue. They gave me a price, and hopefully they'll still honor it. I logged into their site today and they've just updated their catalogue and posted their new prices. No wonder I couldn't find it before! Everything has almost doubled since this time last year. So if you need any supplies you might want to check with your local store before they have to reorder and pay the increased prices. Just an FYI!

thanks Anne for heads up. Will have to check with my suppliers.
Do you all remember about a month or so ago, Graham (I think) had posted about some soldering irons not being available for a while and then someone else posted about so other things that were not available either?
I had joked saying I smell price increases coming! Wonder if this will be wide spread. I know I have seen solder prices climbing again, and a few other items too. Six months ago I got solder for the low price of 7.95 and now it is back up to 12.95 on sale.

Soon it's going to be too expensive to continue.

Yes, I've seen that too Joan, solder prices are now over $10 a roll and more depending on the brand. Kev, I was thinking that too! I did check with another of my suppliers and their prices haven't gone up like the other one did so now I'm trying to decide whether to stock up a bit or just fill in the holes and slowly work my way out of glass. If I'm going to work my way out of it I do need to fill the holes - hummmm, what to do. Sales at the show I did this week were really down and if that continues it'll be hardly worth doing glass anymore. I don't see sales improving any time soon given current economic conditions and I don't expect that will change soon either! And now in our province in Canada everything has a 12% sales tax effective July 1 that'll have people cutting back more again and will again increase the cost of goods.

With the cost of supplies going up like they are, it's going to make glass work so expensive it will be harder to actually make anything from it.

My last major glass purchase was in April and the Youghiogheny and Uroboros prices had been raised earlier in the year. It is important to be a smart shopper in glass as most are in the other areas we deal with. The difference in the two suppliers I normally use was $300 for 50 sheets of Youghiogheny glass. It is important to buy smart and take advantange of the pricing when one can do that.

Thanks for the "heads up", guys. I will need to stock up when I see a sale as I plan on spending the summer making items to hopefully sell at a craft show in October.

We just had a guy come and haul off an old haybaler that was left on our place. He said the price of scrap metal has just taken a jump.

EVERY SINGLE time I order, prices have increased. That has been going on for the last two or three years.

You are buying from Ed? Maybe you need to get another. I usually have one price increase (solder not included) a year.

When we quit buying solder the price may come down...... or better yet, maybe one should consider a scrap metal business.

just checked through many of my invoices from the past 4 years, and with the exception of solder and chain, and maybe red, or pink glass, I found most of what I buy hasn't changed all that much from one year to another.
Once I built up a comfortable inventory, I was able to go from sale to sale for the best part. That doesn't mean I don't have those "I want that glass just cuz" moments LOL, but I add that to my other order.
Solder and chain had increased pretty high and then for about 6 months or so it seemed to have gone back to the price I paid the price from 4 years ago. Recently I was surfing and found that it had jumped back to 12.95 on sale.
Now all I have to hope for is that this stinken MS stops kicking my butt so I can use some of this inventory up LOL

Ed doesn't even list solder prices. Just says to call for the latest price. Rebecca You are buying from Ed? Maybe you need to get another. I usually have one price increase (solder not included) a year.
