...had a piece of glass sitting on your work table that kept catching your eye so you left it there hoping an idea would come to you?  This piece has been sitting there for weeks...I've been looking at it, putting other glass with it to test for color and affect, adding other shapes but so far zip! Silly, huh?  undecided I can sometimes see a trip to the planets...sometimes an abstract.  What do you see when you look at this piece of glass and how would you use it?

Oh, I should mention that this is about 7" at the longest points and about 5" at the widest.

I immediately thought of Star Trek and the old school goldish brownish uniforms.

You could call it your Sulu sushi dish. For the right buyer it could sell well. Black onyx sticks

You could put a bit of dicro on clear or irid on clear over your emblem to give it sparkle.

An arrow head could be cool over a woven blanket pattern

Just doodling

The feather is Sedona spirit glass, the tether is some of your wiggly noodles.

Although I'm not "feeling" an arrowhead it is an interesting idea, Judy.  What is your thought on the set up?  Full fuse on the blanket, tack fuse on the elements?

I would not make this one either, just because I don't know what I would do with it. But iF I did, I would have a red square with black, white, and clear pieces on top and full fuse the blanket. then flip it over for the next step.

For me, I would do as you say, contour fused the arrow on top.

For you, because you do more dishes that can be used, It might be better to full fuse , nice and flat. So you would need to add some clear around the arrow. Then you would probably need to square up the edges again, since the second fuse would have enough volume to mess with your edges melting or mushing out.

Some how sushi and this design don't do it for me  laugh , but it might be fine for holding outdoor found objects like acorns. Or Thanksgiving dishes.

I enjoyed messing with your shape, thanks. And I am liking the idea of Sedona Spirit glass and a feather. Too bad I have never had any and have no plans for buying any soon. Someone else could do a feather and show us  grin

I do alot of plates, bowls, etc that are full fused and smooth but I've also done quite a few with contour fused elements...smoothly rounded and dimensional and still functional. This piece could also work as a rectangle in an S mold...purely decorative. If I were going to make it I would do pretty much what you described. Full fuse the blanket, tack fuse the arrow and feathers...maybe with a lighter tack in the feather and the tether for a little more texture.

Being a blanket the S is a very good idea. You could even look up blanket patterns and make it a specific tribe. I think many had their own particular weave pattern. Don't know though, just thinking out loud.

Here's a May basket. A tradition my kids never new, no flowers on May 1st here  sad

I'll be away today, you guys will have to brain storm the rest of this without me. I look foreward to seeing where it goes.

Hi Becki,
Thank you. I think I have solved a problem I had. My daughter has instructed me to make 3x 18 inch platters for her wedding dinner. " Some thing Celticky" as she so eloquently put it Think I might just use you scrap shape and do this in cobalt blue on clear float 8mm thick with small scattered bubbles. :D
