If it were me I would not put a border around it other than U came. I think a border would take away from the horse and rider.

De, First of all it looks awesome already. Im having the same problem with my butterfly, but looking at yours  I think one of Kevs favorites a black frame might make this one pop.

De, it's really nice ..I like the black border idea. Is this for someone, or is it for sale? My daughter's neighbor does dressage, not very common on the west coast.

Dressage is "formal", so is a black border. Works for me.

Black waterglass from Spectrum would be my choice. (1009W, I think), and not too wide.

I vote for the black, as well. It would set it off nicely without detracting from the piece.

I agree the black would look nice but so would a wood frame (especially if stability is an issue); would make it look like a portrait...

I agree with everyone, a black border would look smashing.

The border and the frame are not mutually exclusive. The border is like the matting on a painting or photograph. One can still add a frame

Wow, that's a very nice looking piece! I love all the details in this piece, looks like one of those projects that would take forever to cut, but make you feel marvelous when you've put down the cutter for the last time!
Border? Yes! Something dark will look good.

Gee thanks guys!  Lots of good suggestions and black seems to be a winner...I ran into Chantal on the chat portion of the site and she suggested a Uroboros 11-86 also...which looked pretty nice...I'm still trying to decide. I may see if I can scare up any of that Uroboros..and until then I'll take a piece of the black waterglass and see how that measures up.

I'm considering using 3/4" bevels around the immediate outside edge, followed by a border, followed by an oak frame.

Yes, Gwen, this one was a labor of love..I took the picture of the horse and rider while at White Fences, FL, and have been working on this for awhile...VERY glad to be able to lay my cutter down.  It's all washed and ready for foiling..hopefull will have it soldered soon!

And it won't probably be hanging in my home, but I do plan to go to some horsey events and have a booth space. I'm hoping that the horse enthusiasts out there will be deliriously excited about the prospect of a commission of their own beloved horses.
