I'm not sure Di, as I bought the program before my trial expired.

Unfortunately it won't allow me to capture a screen shot, and the pic I saved does not show the knots
True, Glasseye export does not show the knots, you need to use something like the 'snip tool' (in Vista) - that tool will capture EVERYTHING on the screen except the cursor. I know that there are some software tools that will capture everything - just cannot remember what they are.

My trial expired maybe a year and a half ago and last time I checked, last fall, I could still get to the patterns and I believe draw.

I tried a screen capture, but it won't do it for programs, only browsers.

I was on my other computer with XP on it. There is no snip it tool with that, and I don't have GE on my laptop.

I think that everyone did a great job explaining how to use the basic tool. I use "curve" very often, if I need a circle, rectangle or square, I use those fairly often also. When using curve..you need to remember that going short spans at a time might be helpful to you and then click to apply the knot. One thing I found helpful was to import a pic of something simple and play around with the curve command and knots until I was able to re-create the outline of a simple item.
And all lines do need to be "attached" to connecting lines. I have found the "Help" and "Suggest" feature very helpful, as well as the video in the beginning.
I'll see what I can find out also about screen shots..there's got to be some way to do that..it would help in explaining how we use GE. It can be a powerful design tool and I hate to see people getting discouraged with it.

When I was first starting with ge I found it difficult to find where my lines were not connected. I soon found that if I magnified the areas one at a time I could find disconnected lines and overlapping lines much easier.

For those of you that need a book, here is a really good manual from glasseye... this is the newer version of the one I used when I learned how to use the program (thanks Kev) http://www.dfly.com/tutorial/getutorial.pdfI found it really easy to learn the software by following this manual page by page. Also, you need to get some easy black and white patterns and practice tracing them, it helps to learn the knot concept both from a curve and intersection point of view. Lou Ann
