As promised here is the latest lamp repair.  It's not exactly ugly.  It is pink iridescent glass with an interesting brass filigree.  The filigree is a rose design that wraps around the eight sides of the lamp.

It had a homemade three-legged spider in it that didn't have good solder joints.  I don't know if you can tell in the picture, but this is what "cold solder" joints look like.  When the joints let go, someone tried to glue the spider back.  When the glue let go, they brought it to me.  Remember that this is an eight sided lamp?  The three legged spider didn't make sense for it.  I replaced the homemade one with a store-bought four legged spider and bent the legs and soldered them to the seams.  That gives a little more support than just soldering the very tip og the leg to the shade, which is how it was.  I have seen homemade spiders that worked, but this one didn't.

I have already fixed it, I'll go take a picture.  Have you tried a lamp?  Or is just the thoguth scary?  Once you do one, they get easier.

This lamp reminds me of a ladies handkerchief with embroidered roses on it. It really isn't all that ugly, not something I'd like in my home, just not my taste, but it isn't half bad. Good job, Rebecca.

Here's the fixed lamp.  I agree, not something I would need in my house, but not ugly.

Well, I do declare! That's gotta be one of the prettiest ugly lamps I've seen in a long time!

LOL@Gwen! I'd agree not the ugliest you have shown us. I must say that filigree is interesting as in I never seen one that open before....looks more like wire work.

Thanks for sharing Rebecca!

Rebecca, I was expecting something uglier too..not a bad lamp something my M-I-L would love.  Great repair and an easy one too.

Get over that "fear". There's absolutely nothing to be afraid of. A lamp like the one Becca has shown us here is  just 16 pieces - 8 sides and 8 pcs in the crown. You've probably already done things that were harder.

Your basic "panel lamp" consists of a number of relatively simple panels, stuck together. Cut and assemble each pattern accurately, and you're there.

Start one next week!! Quit delaying!!
